Finally! An interview with Rory Root, owner of Comic Relief in Berkeley, my favorite comic book shop. We talk about comics in the Bay Area, trades, women in comic shops, libraries, and a whole mess of other stuff.

  • Great interview. I never really thought about it before, but Comic Relief really does have more of a bookstore model than a periodical model, which is one of the reasons it's so great. I think I'll have hop on BART and make a shopping trip in Berkeley this afternoon.

    And of course, Happy Birthday!

  • Hey there,

Really fun interview. My wife and I had the good fortune to meet Rory last November in Montreal. Really good guy and he seemed relaxed and laid back in your interview. Since that's usually a reflection on the interviewer, I can only say "nice job"! :)

Don't know if you'll be heading to over to APE in (gulp!) two weeks, but my wife and I will be at Table #229.
