  • Hi L! Another great show, but one small correction: shonen-ai is the mild "Only the Ring Finger Knows" kind of manga, and yaoi is the more intense and graphic (albeit without, due to Japan's censorship laws, genitalia) manga, like "Yellow." But, eventually one gets used to dickless gay sex in manga, I mean, it's better than nothing. Why, when I was a girl, we didn't have any kind of manga, gay porn or no, and we had to walk uphill to school both ways.

I might have a different opinion after YaoiCon, but I don't think yaoi and shonen-ai manga fans are that odd. Based on the comments I've gotten on my reviews at J LHLS, they come across as intelligent, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and have a sense of humor about it. The fans are the ones who straightened me out on the difference between yaoi and shonen-ai because I didn't know what shonen-ai was until I reviewed "Only the Ring Finger Knows."

  • Just wanted to start by saying how much I am enjoying your show. I don't know who commented or reviewed your show by saying, "It is a bit depressing", but that guy is wacked. Ginger's musical score is exceptional and makes a wonderful complement to your program. Also, your production/recording talents are some of the best, unlike some other podcasts, your volume and audible levels are actually understandable! I can't emphasize how wonderful that is. Later! Keep up the excellent work.

  • L, I saw the comment about your podcast being depressing on the forums for Fanboy Radio. I thought he meant that it was painfully depressing that you could differentiate your podcast by saying that you were a girl that reads comics. Meaning, it's not your podcast that's depressing per se, but it's depressing that so few women read comics that you could say "Hey, check me out. I'm a girl. And I read comics!" and the appropriate reaction wouldn't just be "So?".

Other than that, his review was pretty positive.

  • The music is great. Mr. Anonymous, we don't put pictures up because then you guys stop paying attention to our content. Well, at least that is true of some Mr. Anonymouses...Anonymi? :)

The aggregator sites not only break copyright law, they also steal bandwidth from the comic's host site (without the usual links to stores or ads that pay for said bandwidth) and they remove the comic from the rant, which (at least in mine) often has linkage/credits that were exchanged for permission to borrow images, characters, etc. In other words, the aggregators may cause the comics' authors to unintentionally break copyright agreements with outside sources. Of course, if aggregator websites required original author permission, that would be moot. Unfortunately, most of them don't.

My generally unpopular two cents on the topic,

  • I'm enjoying the show even when I disagree with you...which to me is the sign of a good show.

Seemed a bit low to me to be giving Neil Gaiman stick because he went to the White House....a) as you know he's English so why should he get involved in your politics (though he is a US resident so I may beat my own argument there) b) he may support your current President's views and c) he's entitled to an opinion.

  • Isn't Jaime pronounced "Hi-Mee" not "Heh-may" ? Just wondering...

    otherwise- love yer show.

TCJ had an airpirates article a few years ago. facinating and mostly unknown period in comics/copyright/parody/fair use history.

  • I love listening to your show...its the only one I have a chance to listen to since most of my time is work and our podcast Comic Geek Speak...as far as the critique of your show I have to say the music isnt depressing it soothing...it gets me in the mood to kick back and get a little mellow and enjoy the content...I totally agree that Rabbit of Seville is better than Whats Opera Doc and as soon as you said Wilie Coyote and Bugs the words SUPER GENIUS sprung from my lips...Classic stuff...Keep it up
